Will there still be a CIO in your organisation 2030? What will its responsibilities be? Which competencies and skills will be essential? Is it fair to say that the CIO in 2030 will have less focus on IT infrastructure, business applications, improvement programs and service delivery, yet more on growing the business using new technologies? Will the focus be less on keeping the lights on in the most efficient and reliable way and more on finding new business opportunities for the organisation? Will IT, as a result, no longer be seen as a cost center, yet as a revenue generator? Will the CIO have become a business leader, in some cases getting promoted to CEO? Will the IT department still exist at that moment, or be fully integrated in the rest of the organisation?  And which title will be most popular: CIO, CDO, CTO, ...?
