CYBERSECURITY MATURITY

On Thursday April 18, 2024 we had another great Pointury event about cybersecurity with Patrick Van den Branden and Marc Vael as keynote speakers.

Attaining Peak Cybersecurity Maturity, and become NIS2 compliant while doing so.

The NIS2 (Network and Information Systems) Directive is a piece of legislation aimed at improving the overall cybersecurity posture of organisations operating critical infrastructure within the European Union. It requires organisations to take appropriate measures to manage and mitigate cybersecurity risks effectively. 

Achieving a high level of cybersecurity maturity can greatly facilitate NIS2 compliance.

• Organizations with a high level of cybersecurity maturity are adept at identifying, assessing, and managing cybersecurity risks effectively.
• Cybersecurity maturity involves the implementation of a wide range of security controls across various layers of an organisation's IT infrastructure. These controls may include network segmentation, access controls, encryption and intrusion detection systems.
• Mature organisations typically have well-established cybersecurity governance structures in place. This includes clearly defined roles and responsibilities, policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms related to cybersecurity.
• High cybersecurity maturity entails a culture of continuous monitoring, assessment, and improvement.
• Moreover mature organisations have robust incident response plans, mechanisms for detecting and responding to cybersecurity incidents promptly, and strategies for minimising the impact of incidents on their operations.
